As part of its ongoing commitment to raising ethical standards, leading food manufacturer Freshtime UK has introduced a new position at its site in Boston.
Richard Fletcher has been appointed to the role of Ethical Trade Officer, working closely alongside the firm’s Head of Corporate and Social Responsibility Mel Miles.
Originally from Boston, Richard previously worked for Fogarty in the town in a variety of roles since leaving school. He spotted the vacancy at Freshtime while working as a Quality and Compliance Manager at the quilt and pillow makers.
“It’s clear that Freshtime wholeheartedly believes in social compliance, which really appealed to me,” said Richard.
“An opportunity like this is rare, especially in this area, and the fact that Freshtime is actively seeking to continue to develop and remain leaders in the food industry is so refreshing.”
Freshtime’s Managing Director Mark Newton said: “We’re committed to doing the right thing in everything we do as a company and like to set an example to all of our partners and suppliers, to ensure they share the same beliefs and values.
“We are delighted to welcome Richard to the team and are excited to see how he develops during his time with us.”
Richard added: “I only joined the company a few weeks ago and I have already been out meeting and talking to suppliers to understand the challenges they face.”
In November Richard is due to undertake an intense five-day training course to become a Quality Social Systems Auditor, which will equip him with the skills needed to work more closely with suppliers on the social systems they have in place.
“I’m really hoping to make my mark within the company and the nature of the job offers the chance to build a best-in-class compliance system.”
