Leading fresh chilled food producer Freshtime UK has strengthened its New Product Development team with two new appointments.
Amanda Turner (right) has moved from Icelandic Seachill in Grimsby to the role of NPD Manager at the Boston-based snack salad and vegetable specialist.
Joining her as a development technologist is Michelle Torinsci, who has moved to Freshtime from Bakkavor.
“I was at Northern Foods for 11 years and that’s where I discovered my love of food product development,” said Amanda, who now manages a team of four technologists and one chef at Freshtime.
“I went into my career straight after my A-levels; I didn’t know what I wanted to do but I really enjoyed my first job in the food industry and I’ve been lucky enough to be given some great opportunities to progress.”
Amanda has worked as NPD Manager at Daniels Group, Senior Process Technologist at Saladworks and Process Development Manager at Solway Foods. Her most recent role was as NPD Controller at Icelandic Seachill in Grimsby.
“We’re building up the NPD team now at Freshtime and we’re concentrating on developing the brand and our core competencies,” she said.
Michelle Torinsci trained as a chef, worked as a cook in the NHS and ran her own food retail business. She then worked at Cucina Sano in Old Leake near Boston (part of Bakkavor) for six years before moving to Freshtime.
“We’re doing a lot of work on innovation, getting out into the stores and restaurants, finding out what’s going on in the market at the moment and what the customers want,” she said.
“It’s very exciting at the moment. Freshtime has got some big ideas and it’s great to be given the opportunity to get out there and help take the business forward.”
